A computer can be defined as an electronic device which help us to store and retrieve our data, according to the instructions sent or given to it in a variable program.
What is a network?
A network is a collection of different computers that are linked to share or exchange resources. We have two types of network which are listed below:
- LAN (Local area network)
- WAN (Wide area network)
So we will discuss the two main types of network here.
Local area network: This type of network is a network that works within a small area. It doesn't work everywhere and that means it can't work everywhere.
Wide area network: It a type of network that can work in a large geographical area. This means it can be connected anywhere it is made available. Wide area network is often referred to as public network, because it is used by anyone. With the help of WAN, A church or business at Nigeria can communicate with a business in another far away country.
What is a computer network?
A computer network are set of computer connected or Sharing same network nodes.
Computer network as education is categorized under computer scientist. A computer network is also referred to as data network because the main purpose of a computer is to store data.
With the help of computer Network, users and social media will run smoothly and efficient.
Uses of computer network?
- File sharing: with the help of Computer network, file can be shared online easily.
- Application sharing: it helps users to share application or even sale there application online.
- Communication: Computer network or data network can also communicate in the process of video call or audio call.
- Gaming: it helps users to know who there play online games and their different locations.
- E-commerce: which enables one to buy and also sale online from different locations.
Advantages of computer Network
We have many advantages of computer network which are listed below-:
- File sharing allows users to share information between users;
- Resource sharing allows users to share multiple devices, like copiers and printers;
- Communication: allows users to send and receive messages and information in real time from multiple devices;
- Convenience: allows users to access information via an online connection;
- Cost: allows users to save lots of cash as a result of networked devices ar more cost-effective.
Network access
Networks can be either public or private. In which anyone at anywhere can access the public internet, access to private and virtually private networks requires that the end user to be assigned access credentials.
Network topologies
Network topologies are the physical or logical structure or building of a network. Network topologies includes:
- Star network: This is a kind of network whereby all Network are connected on same central computer.
- Ring network: This type of network has a ring structure. It is a network that connect to each other in ring format or method, and each device are connected to two or more device.
- Bus network: This is a type of network whereby devices connected to a network are directly connected to a transmission line. Each gadget has a unique identification and detects signals that are intended for it.
- Mesh network: This is a type of network whereby each network node are connected to each other and can share or exchange data.
- Tree network: This is a type of network where two or more star network are connected together to share data.
Other types of network-:
- (MANs) Metropolitan area networks
- (SANs) Storage area networks
- (CANs) Campus area networks
- (PONs) Passive optical networks
- (VPNs) Virtual private networks
- (PANs) Personal area networks
In addition to subnetworks, networks can be divided into subnetworks, also known as subnets.
